Full plot (contains spoilers)
Stendhal’s novel is adapted and seen through the eyes of its main characters: Fabrice del Dongo, an incorrigible Don Juan, falls in love with Clelia Conti, while his aunt and protector, the Duchess Sanseverina, burns with love for him. Ernest IV, a mad monarch, calls the tune, aided by the sinister Rassi, who is also plotting.
