La llamada del sexo (1979)

Carlos is the head of an advertising agency in Santo Domingo and is having an affair with Mónica, a model he met at a casting call for a toothpaste commercial. Their relationship proceeds without a hitch until one day he takes his lover to an abandoned house on the outskirts of the city, where he lived during his childhood and teenage years. Mónica notices disturbing childlike drawings of masked men and women on many of the walls. Carlos explains that, back then, his parents often held masquerade balls that turned into bacchanals, and that both he and his now-deceased stepsister Karin hated Carnival celebrations because of it. Mónica tries to get more details from her lover, but Carlos eventually refuses to discuss the subject any further. Meanwhile, Gloria, Carlos’s extremely wealthy and equally ambitious wife, begins to suspect her husband and hires a private detective to investigate him. The two catch Carlos and Mónica red-handed in a hotel room. Back at home, the couple argue about divorce until Gloria suddenly falls down the stairs by accident. Believing her to be dead, Carlos takes her to the abandoned house and hides her inside a trunk. However, as he flees the place, Carlos accidentally runs over a child. This is the beginning of a series of strange and fateful events that his friend, the parapsychologist Víctor Litvinov, had predicted some time earlier, and that will ultimately lead to another completely unexpected event.
