Murphy’s law is an empirical principle stating that “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Murphy’s law is therefore a variation on the law of maximum hassle, which says that a slice of bread always lands jam-side down... After four years in prison, Elias is completing his reintegration at a hospital, where he works as a hospital porter. In five hours, his parole will come to an end. He will be able to make a fresh start and put the past behind him. But that’s without counting on Murphy’s law and its whole string of maximum hassles. Because the stolen diamonds could keep the trouble going. A diamond heist takes place early in the evening, and a series of coincidences brings the various people involved in the robbery to the hospital—including the diamonds’ owner and Rudy, Elias’s former cellmate, who knows where the diamonds are hidden and has been admitted to the emergency room. The Ortega brothers, a pair of crazed crime bosses, want to kill Rudy. The hospital becomes their headquarters. The cops show up too and sense that something is fishy. General panic ensues. Everything goes wrong for Elias. Trouble sticks to him like glue: Inspector Verlun is eager to slap the cuffs on him. His boss, Dr. Moreau, is unhappy with his initiative and would gladly show him the door. And, to top off Murphy’s law, the diamonds are still nowhere to be found. As for Elias, he tries to save whatever he can, come hell or high water: his own skin, his friend, his job...
