La terre des hommes (2020)

Constance is the daughter of a farmer whose cattle-breeding business is in serious difficulty. With Bruno, her fiancé, she wants to take over her father’s farm and bring in new ideas, but doing so requires investment and standing up to the large-scale farmers who divide the land and power among themselves. She wins the support of one of them, Sylvain Rousseau, the influential and charismatic president of the local farmers’ union, but he uses his influence to obtain a sexual relationship with the young farmer. Constance’s young husband discovers the affair. At the end of her tether, and seeing no progress in her case, she goes to the gendarmerie to file a rape complaint against Sylvain Rousseau. But she faces the difficulty of proving her accusation and the hostility of the farming community. Nevertheless, refusing to give up, she will be able to use this complaint to achieve her goal and gain recognition as a woman and farm manager.
