La vendetta di Lady Morgan (1965)

Scotland, 1865. Twenty-year-old Susan Blackhouse is the last of a noble line. She is the heir alongside her elderly uncle, Sir Neville. While she is being courted by a less wealthy nobleman, Sir Harold Morgan, she prefers Pierre Brissac, a French architect, with whom she is in love. Their love is mutual, but he has to return to France. He promises to marry her when he comes back. During his voyage by ship, Pierre is thrown overboard by Roger, an associate of Morgan’s. Gravely injured, he loses his memory and is hospitalized in France. He has forgotten everything, including Susan... At the Blackhouse home in Scotland, news of the architect’s death is announced. Devastated, Susan has no choice but to marry Morgan in order to honor a promise she made to her uncle. After the wedding, Susan goes to rest at her uncle’s while Morgan takes care of his castle. When she returns, she discovers that all the staff have been dismissed and that her husband has hired new people for the positions of governess, butler, and servant. Morgan has brought three accomplices, including Roger, into the house to get rid of Susan. He is not in love with her; he wants to get his hands on her inheritance. Driven mad by her husband and his servants, she commits suicide. Morgan’s Machiavellian plan has worked. But Lady Morgan returns from the dead to exact her revenge...
