Full plot (contains spoilers)
In the year 2000 in Marseille, Michèle, Paul, Viviane, Abderamane, Claude, Gérard, Ameline, and Sarkis must face the difficulties of life. Michèle works at a fish auction and has set her mind on saving her daughter, who is addicted to drugs. Paul betrays his friends among the striking dockworkers to become a taxi driver. Viviane Froment is a musician who can no longer stand the realistic left-wing politics represented by her husband. Transformed by prison, Abderamane seeks to help his brothers. Claude has affinities with far-right activists. Gérard has a relationship with death—his own and that of others—that is shrouded in mystery. Paul’s retired parents will never vote again. Ameline’s body displays the health she wants to instill in the people by reminding them of their pre-monotheistic origins. Sarkis is fighting for the grand piano he dreams of. All these people live singular, intertwined stories that unfold in the same place at the same time—Marseille in the year 2000—and which, in the face of the rise of insignificance and confusion, attest that the city is not at peace.
