A woman trapped in a loveless marriage to a paralyzed man finds solace in a forbidden affair with a local gamekeeper.
The story
After marrying the baronet Sir Clifford Chatterley, Constance "Connie" Reid moves to the impressive Chatterley estate in Wragby. While she initially believes she loves Clifford for his progressive nature, his return from World War I paralyzed from the waist down changes everything. He becomes a demanding and controlling caretaker, leading to a lack of physical and emotional intimacy for Connie. Feeling isolated and stifled by his behavior and the social expectations of her status, Connie's life takes a turn when she encounters Oliver Mellors, a local gamekeeper who also returned from the war. Their meeting sparks an immediate connection, leading to a clandestine and passionate affair that challenges her position in the manor.
