The story
Max Wanner and Fritz Pollatschek are each told by doctors that they have no more than three months to live. Wanner needs a new liver, while Pollatschek needs a new heart; an organ transplant is their only hope, but legal donor organs are scarce. Star surgeon Dr. Egon Schöllkopf proposes that whichever man dies first will donate his organ to the other, leaving the two men to face a grim dilemma.

Longer Life tells the story of Max Wanner and Fritz Pollatschek. According to the doctors, neither of them has more than three months to live. Wanner needs a new liver, Pollatschek a new heart. Only an organ transplant can save them now, but legal donor organs are scarce. Star surgeon Dr. Egon Schöllkopf has an idea: whoever dies first will donate their organ to the other. A deadly friendship begins, leading the two seniors into the clutches of the Mafia. Meanwhile, the younger generation is struggling not only with the stubborn old men, but also with complicated relationships and messed-up life goals.
