Lapislazuli (2006)

In the Austrian Alps, a meteorite strikes a glacier and brings the Neanderthal boy Bataa, frozen in the ice, back to life. Bataa meets Sophie, a girl who has run away from the holiday lodge in the mountains. Sophie's mother has died, and now she cannot get along with her father's new girlfriend and the girlfriend's daughter. Sophie stays with Bataa, but at first they seem divided by their different worlds and languages. Bataa is looking for a particular cave, a sacred Neanderthal site. With the help of a hermit, they manage to find the cave, but when Sophie learns that Bataa intends to die there in order to “join his family,” she decides to take him to her grandmother's. On the way to the city, Sophie realizes that Bataa is ill and needs a doctor. Looking for help, the two come across the scientist Heckl, who hunts Bataa down and captures him. With help from her parents, Sophie manages to free Bataa, but has to realize that he is seriously ill. Sophie understands that Bataa does not belong in this world, and they set off for the cave again, but they do not have much time left. With his last strength, and with support from Sophie's family, Bataa makes it to the cave, from where he begins his “journey.”
