Full plot (contains spoilers)

A man about whom we know nothing, played by Pierre Clémenti, whose immediate screen presence is unmistakable, lives with a woman and a child in Brussels. He is a pickpocket, and has an occasional accomplice, a North African man whom he finds dead inside a rusted bus, a wreck at the bottom of a wood, without knowing who he really is or why he disappeared. Armed with the man’s identity papers, found amid this wreckage, Clémenti sets off for Guermessa, in southern Tunisia, to find out. Faced with the unspeakable, fiction here gives way to meditation.
