A woman's journey to propose to her boyfriend on leap day leads to an unexpected road trip across Ireland with a surly pub owner.
The story
Boston real estate stager Anna Brady is frustrated that her boyfriend of four years, Jeremy, has not yet proposed. Seeking to change this, she travels to Dublin where he is attending a cardiology conference to invoke the Irish tradition of Bachelor's Day. However, a storm diverts her plane, and she ends up stranded in the village of Dingle. She strikes a deal with Declan O'Callaghan, a local pub owner facing foreclosure, to drive her to Dublin. The journey becomes a series of mishaps as they navigate rural Ireland together, forcing them to confront their own lives and feelings.

Anna Brady travels to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend Jeremy on leap day. After a storm strands her in Dingle, she hires Declan O'Callaghan, a surly pub owner, to drive her to Dublin. During the journey, they face various obstacles, including cows blocking the road and a run-in with travelers. They stay the night in Tipperary, where they pretend to be married to share a room, leading to unexpected romantic feelings. After a hailstorm forces them into a church wedding reception where Anna gets drunk, they arrive in Dublin. Jeremy surprises Anna by proposing in a hotel lobby, and she accepts. Later, Anna discovers Jeremy only proposed to secure an apartment. She breaks off the engagement and returns to Dingle. She finds Declan has raised money to pay his debts.
