A family's reunion with their long-lost daughter leads to the horrifying discovery of a demonic possession.
The story
In a reimagining of the Mummy franchise, a family is reunited with their long-missing, partially-mummified daughter, Layla. The story begins in Aswan, Egypt, where a family discovers a buried black pyramid and a sarcophagus containing moving remains. Years later, in the United States, the family welcomes their daughter back home after she is found in a catatonic state. As the family tries to care for her, they begin to notice her erratic behavior and mysterious markings on her skin. They soon realize she is not alone, as she is being influenced by an ancient Egyptian demon known as the Nasmaranian.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In Aswan, Egypt, a family finds a sarcophagus on a buried pyramid; the father is killed by a supernatural force. In 2018, reporter Charlie Cannon's daughter, Katie, is kidnapped by a 'Magician' and replaced by a girl named Layla. Eight years later, in New Mexico, Katie is found in a catatonic state and brought home to Charlie and Larissa. Katie is actually possessed by the Nasmaranian, an ancient demon. As the protective scriptures on her skin are removed, the demon grows stronger. Charlie discovers Katie is communicating in Morse code, leading him to a truth about the Magician and a cult. During a confrontation, Katie takes control of her siblings and kills their grandmother. Dalia, a detective, eventually helps Charlie transfer the demon into himself to save the children. The film ends with Dalia and Larissa confronting the Magician to free Charlie from the possession.
