Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1983, Dan O'Grady captures a leprechaun in Ireland who gives him a pot of gold. After burying it, the leprechaun follows him to North Dakota and murders his wife. O'Grady traps the leprechaun in a crate using a four-leaf clover but suffers a stroke before he can burn it. Ten years later, J. D. Redding buys the farmhouse. While contract workers paint the house, Ozzie Jones accidentally frees the leprechaun. Ozzie finds a bag of gold coins and stashes them in a well. The leprechaun lures J. D. into a trap, causing him to be hospitalized, then kills a pawn shop owner and a police officer while searching for his gold. The group finds the farmhouse ransacked and Nathan is injured by a bear trap. They attempt to flee, but the leprechaun sabotages their truck. Tory recovers the gold from the well, but the leprechaun realizes one coin is missing—the one Ozzie swallowed. The group distracts the leprechaun with dirty shoes while Tory drives to a nursing home to find O'Grady. The leprechaun throws O'Grady down an elevator shaft, but before dying, O'Grady tells Tory that a four-leaf clover can kill him. Tory finds a clover, and Alex shoots it into the leprechaun's mouth, causing him to melt. The leprechaun's skeleton climbs out of the well, but Nathan pushes it back in and blows up the well with gasoline. The leprechaun vows his spirit will not rest until he recovers his gold.
