The story
On a Burgundy estate, the Marquis de Maubrun rules over his family and lands according to aristocratic traditions. His daughter Daisy loves their neighbor Christophe de Conti, but Christophe’s father bought his noble title, and the marquis rejects the marriage. Daisy refuses to accept his decision. Meanwhile, the marquis’s eldest son, Artus, successful in business, wants to open the deteriorating estate to capitalism in order to save the family property. Faced with these challenges from his heirs, the marquis struggles to understand a changing world in which money and happiness seem to supplant the honor and duty he upholds.

On a Burgundy estate, the Marquis de Maubrun rules over his family and his lands. A worthy heir to the virtues and ancestral traditions of the aristocracy, he now faces a breeze of revolt among the Maubrun heirs: his daughter Daisy, who is in love with her neighbor Christophe de Conti, the son of a parvenu who bought his noble title, refuses to accept her father's rejection of their marriage. His eldest son, Artus, who has succeeded in business, wants to open the estate to capitalism to save the family property, which is falling into disrepair. The marquis is then forced to acknowledge sadly that he can no longer accept or understand the world as it has become, where money and happiness come before the honor and duty demanded by the aristocracy, which is running out of steam and needs new blood. A family tragedy then leads the marquis to make a radical decision.
