Full plot (contains spoilers)
Henri Arnaud, a generous bachelor, is a judge at the juvenile court in Aix-en-Provence. André Arnaud, a law student with little money, gets along with the magistrate, but is reduced to borrowing money from Mr. Jassoron, a highly dubious antiques dealer who is only too ready to blackmail him. The young man kills him. In love with the beautiful Tina and unwilling to turn himself in, André fools the police. But the judge is not taken in and pursues him relentlessly. At first outraged, André suddenly understands that Henri Arnaud wants to adopt him to help him endure prison. This will happen. André himself will agree to pay his debt, confident that his benefactor will support him through the ordeal.
