Full plot (contains spoilers)
Bénédicte, a chief warrant officer, joins a fire station in Bram, in the south of France, run by Philippe. The region is regularly ravaged by numerous fires, whether arson or not. On her very first night shift, she has to respond to a road accident. But the stress of the response, the darkness, and the torrential rain mean that Bénédicte fails to see that one last unconscious victim remains by the roadside, despite having checked the accident scene. This oversight triggers an administrative inquiry, while the fire station faces a serious threat of closure. Deeply affected, Bénédicte considers leaving the brigade, but her superior, Philippe, persuades her to stay. Bénédicte then tries to find her place despite the hostility of some members of the brigade. The brigade is confronted with a wide range of situations: a scrubland fire, an imminent childbirth, an urban riot, domestic violence, and suicide.
