Les Mystères de la Duchesse (2022)

At the age of 70, Duchess Louise de Crémier remarries Cyril Le Goff, a sophrologist doctor who is only 38, causing quite a stir in the area. Her daughter Estelle, convinced that her mother is being taken advantage of because of her vulnerability, hires Lucien Labeguerri, a former police officer turned private detective. A year after the wedding, while Cyril Le Goff is doing tai chi in the manor’s park, he is murdered with a blow to the back of the neck from an iron bar. Captain Maud Artuis of the gendarmerie, who is more than eight months pregnant, begins her investigation in the park and notices the private detective there, bringing him into her investigation. There are many suspects, foremost among them Estelle de Crémier, who might have murdered Cyril Le Goff to stop him from getting his hands on the duchess’s inheritance. But the investigation reveals that the doctor is in fact much wealthier than his wife, having inherited 10 million euros. Then another murder takes place: the duchess is found dead on the stairs of her château, beside the vandalized portrait of her great-grandmother.
