A murder investigation on France’s Atlantic coast becomes entangled with a cocaine influx and the investigators’ shared past.
The story
The gendarmerie is already under pressure after dozens of cocaine bales wash up along the Atlantic coast. Matters intensify when officers find the body of Lucas Lagne, the young son of a local shipyard owner, in the dunes. Captain Sarah Meunier leads the murder investigation, while a prosecutor requires Ben, a narcotics-squad captain, to work alongside her and coordinate the case with the inquiry into the cocaine influx. Sarah and Ben have a history: they knew each other long ago and have not met since Sarah’s partner died in a car accident. Sarah was pregnant at the time and is now the mother of Lina, a young woman nearing 18 who struggles with her father’s absence and a secret about her origins.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
With the gendarmerie already stretched thin since the ocean began washing dozens of bales of cocaine onto the Atlantic coast, the situation becomes more complicated when they discover the body of young Lucas Lagne in the dunes. He was the son of the owner of the local shipyard. Gendarmerie Captain Sarah Meunier leads the investigation, but the prosecutor insists that Ben, a captain in the narcotics squad, work alongside her and demands that the investigations into the “white tide” and young Lucas’s murder be coordinated. But it turns out that Sarah and Ben knew each other a long time ago and have not seen each other since Sarah’s partner died in a car accident, leaving her pregnant. She later became the mother of little Lina, who is now a young woman nearly 18, troubled by her father’s absence and by the heavy secret surrounding her origins.
