The story
In spring 2015, while living in Saorge in the Roya Valley, Michel Toesca begins gathering footage of migrants arriving in Ventimiglia, an Italian town downstream from the valley. He has no film project in mind at first. Over more than two years, he follows migrants seeking to cross the border and citizens who help them, including Cédric Herrou, a farmer arrested and later facing legal trouble for helping exiles.
