After a misogynistic remark costs composer Frank Ewert the favor of his female fans, his associates invent a female composer to help repair his public image.

The story

Composer Frank Ewert admits to reporter Renate von Eiche that he is a misogynist. When her report appears in the newspaper, he loses favor with his female fans. To address the backlash, his concert director and assistant invent Anni Schmidt, a female composer whom Ewert is supposedly supporting. But their scheme is incomplete: they still need Anni herself to present to the reporters. The story begins with Ewert’s damaged public image and his associates’ attempt to manage it through a fabricated identity.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Frank Ewert is a composer and a misogynist. He admits as much to reporter Renate von Eiche. When this appears in the newspaper, he is no longer popular with his female fans. So his concert director and assistant invent a female composer named Anni Schmidt, whom Ewert is said to be supporting. All that is missing now is Anni Schmidt herself, who can be introduced to the reporters. But she can also compose, and she forms an orchestra. Over the course of the film, Ewert falls in love with the orchestra conductor and has to change his opinion of women.
