The story
In New York City, Slevin Kelevra is staying in a friend's apartment when he is kidnapped by henchmen who mistake him for a man named Nick. He is taken to 'The Boss,' who demands he repay a gambling debt or assassinate the son of a rival mobster, 'The Rabbi.' Slevin is subsequently kidnapped again by The Rabbi's own men, who also mistake him for Nick and demand the same debt. Caught between two warring factions who both believe he is someone else, Slevin must navigate a dangerous web of violence and deception to survive the escalating conflict.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Two bookies are murdered, and a man named Goodkat kills a young man in a bus terminal to set an example for betting on fixed races. In New York, Slevin Kelevra is kidnapped by 'The Boss' for mistaking him for Nick Fisher; The Boss wants Slevin to kill The Rabbi's son, Yitzchok 'The Fairy.' Slevin is then kidnapped by The Rabbi's men, who also want him to repay Nick's debt. Slevin eventually kills Yitzchok and teams up with Goodkat, who reveals he was the assassin hired to kill Slevin's father, Max, twenty years ago. Slevin reveals he is actually Max's son, Henry, and that Goodkat raised him. Slevin and Goodkat kidnap both The Boss and The Rabbi, and Slevin kills them both to avenge his father. Slevin then fakes the death of Lindsey, a woman he fell in love with, and Goodkat agrees to leave her alone. Finally, Detective Brikowski, who was investigating the connections, is shot by Slevin.
