The story

Full plot (contains spoilers)
Lune froide follows the aimless wanderings of Simon (Jean-François Stévenin) and Dédé (Patrick Bouchitey), two embittered night-owl outsiders. A series of unusual encounters brings out the duo’s dark humor and offbeat nature. Rated 16 and over, the film caused a scandal even before its release because it obliquely addresses, through various flashbacks, the particularly taboo subject of necrophilia (the short film based on Bukowski’s story “Copulating Mermaid of Venice” is included at the end of the film). Shot in black and white in a port industrial zone in Lorient, Brittany, the film is suffused with music by Didier Lockwood and with Dédé’s passion for Jimi Hendrix and 1960s rock in general.
