David Robey, a wealthy trader and serial killer, kidnaps a cleaner named Callum Aldrich. DCI John Luther is assigned to the case but is eventually imprisoned after Robey exposes his past illegal activities. Years later, Robey broadcasts a recording of Callum's murder to Luther in prison. Luther coordinates with DCI Odette Raine and retired DSU Martin Schenk to break out of prison. They trace Robey to Piccadilly Circus, where he escapes into the London Underground after killing an officer. Robey then kidnaps Raine's daughter, Anya, and blackmails Raine into helping him. After a series of events including the death of Raine's subordinate Archie Woodward, Luther and Raine travel to a mansion in rural Norway. There, they discover Robey is live-streaming the torture of victims in 'The Red Bunker.' After a brutal fight, they escape, and Luther chases Robey into a frozen lake, where Robey drowns. Back in London, Luther is approached by an MI5 official who implies a new job offer.
