Marwann is a 14-year-old of Tunisian descent who lives in Paris. More concerned with his desire to win over the beautiful Sygrid than with the demonstrations in support of the Arab Spring, he nevertheless becomes an unwitting symbol of the Tunisian revolution after a series of events leads to him making the front page of the newspaper Libération. The positive image he enjoys, particularly at his middle school, gives him more confidence about his chances with Sygrid. The events also allow him to reconnect with his Tunisian roots.
