Full plot (contains spoilers)
After his vehicle is stolen by the bandit Jedediah, Max Rockatansky tracks him to Bartertown, a trading post powered by a methane refinery. Max is forced into a conflict with the refinery's owner, Master, who is protected by a large man named Blaster. To resolve the dispute, they enter the Thunderdome, a gladiatorial arena. Max wins the fight by exploiting Blaster's sensitivity to high-pitched noises, but he refuses to kill Blaster due to the man's intellectual disability. This leads to a political shift where Aunty Entity takes control of the refinery. Following a series of events, Max is cast out into the wasteland, where he is rescued by a girl named Savannah Nix and a group of children from a secluded oasis called Planet Erf. Max eventually helps the group escape their isolation and travel toward the ruins of Sydney, where they establish a new community while Max continues his journey alone in the wasteland.
