The story
On Halloween night 1998 at Cornell University, Tom Bailey Jr. meets Hannah, who becomes his lifelong best friend. Ten years later, Tom is a wealthy New York City inventor who continues to sleep with different women every week, while Hannah remains single and focused on her career. When Tom realizes his true feelings for Hannah after an intimate moment at his father's wedding, he prepares to confess his love. However, Hannah returns from a trip with Colin McMurray, a wealthy Scottish Duke, as her fiancé. To stay close to her, Tom accepts the role of her maid of honor, intending to win her heart before the wedding.

On Halloween night 1998 at Cornell University, Tom Bailey Jr. meets Hannah, who becomes his lifelong best friend. He travels with Hannah to Scotland, where he participates in Highland games and witnesses Colin's family's traditions. During a bachelorette party, Tom and Hannah share a passionate kiss, but the next morning, Tom decides to leave after a tense confrontation. Realizing he must stop the wedding, he rides a horse to the church, crashing through the doors. He declares his love, Hannah reciprocates, and they call off the wedding. The film ends with Tom and Hannah getting married on a rooftop in New York.
