The story
Former male stripper Mike Lane, who lost his furniture business during the COVID-19 pandemic, is now in his forties and working as a bartender in Miami. During a fundraising event, he is recognized by a woman he performed for a decade ago. After a private encounter with a socialite named Maxandra "Max" Mendoza, Mike is offered $60,000 to travel to London for a month to choreograph a special dance production for her theater. Although Mike insists he is retired from dancing, he agrees to the business arrangement, leading him and Max to travel to the United Kingdom to begin the project.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Mike Lane, a retired male stripper in Miami, is approached by socialite Maxandra "Max" Mendoza. After a passionate lap dance, Max offers Mike $60,000 to travel to London for a month to choreograph a special dance production at the Rattigan Theatre. Mike agrees on the condition that he remains strictly behind the scenes. In London, they face challenges including a distrustful teenage daughter, Zadie, and threats of sanctions from the Westminster City Council due to unauthorized alterations to the historical building. To secure approval, the dancers perform a choreographed routine for a board member. Despite tensions regarding the show's ending and Mike's refusal to perform on stage, they continue rehearsals secretly after Max is told to return to the U.S. The show eventually opens as an invitation-only event. The performance features a mix of traditional elements and modern feminist themes. For the finale, Mike partners with a ballet dancer for a rain-set piece reminiscent of his time with Max. After the show, Mike learns Max is now broke, and the two share a kiss.
