Two estranged FBI agents reunite when a sheriff reports that Pamela Rose’s coffin has been stolen.
The story
FBI agent Douglas Ripper is contacted by the sheriff of Bornsville, who reports that Pamela Rose’s coffin has been stolen. Ripper sees the case as a chance to reconnect with his former partner, Richard Bullit, now retired. The two agents had fallen out over a woman: Bullit’s girlfriend left him for Ripper. Despite their estrangement and their somewhat old-fashioned ways, they reunite to investigate the desecration of Pamela Rose’s grave, a case that appears unusually complicated and conceals many secrets.

FBI agent Douglas Ripper is contacted by the sheriff of Bornsville, who tells him that Pamela Rose’s coffin has been stolen. Ripper thinks he can use this to get back in touch with his former partner, Richard Bullit, who is retired and with whom he had fallen out over a woman (Bullit’s girlfriend left him for Ripper).
