Full plot (contains spoilers)
As politics would have it, Denmark’s newly appointed minister of defense knows nothing about the military. So, for information purposes, he reports for duty in response to the call-up notice he has received, and his clumsiness soon makes him the instructors’ nightmare. Eventually, he becomes the major’s orderly, because everyone passes the klutz on to someone else. He succeeds only as an enthusiastic rocket hobbyist, and also shows courage. In the end, he wins the major’s daughter as his wife.
