Two best friends seek refuge in a local mall after being dumped by their girlfriends on the same day.
The story
College student T.S. Quint is preparing for a trip to Universal Studios Florida with Brandi Svenning, during which he plans to propose to her; however, Brandi tells him she cannot go due to having volunteered to fill in as a contestant on Truth or Date, her father's dating game show. After they break up, T.S. turns to his best friend Brodie Bruce, who has also been dumped by his girlfriend Rene. Brodie suggests the two might find comfort at the local mall. The pair discovers that Truth or Date is being filmed at that very mall and they begin devising plans to disrupt the production.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
T.S. Quint and Brodie Bruce retreat to a mall after being dumped by Brandi and Rene. They discover Brandi's father, Jared, is filming a dating show called 'Truth or Date' at the mall. The duo, along with slackers Jay and Silent Bob, attempt to sabotage the show. During their time at the mall, they encounter Tricia Jones, a girl filming sex scenes for a book, and learn that Rene is dating a store manager named Shannon. After being arrested on false charges by Jared, they are rescued by Jay and Silent Bob and hide at a flea market, where they receive advice from a topless fortune teller. Brodie meets Stan Lee for romance advice, while T.S. convinces Jay to get contestants high so he and Brodie can replace them on the show. During the broadcast, Brandi recognizes them, leading to an argument where Brodie explains T.S.'s pining. T.S. proposes to Brandi on-air and she accepts. As police arrive, Silent Bob broadcasts a sex tape of Shannon and Tricia, leading to Shannon's arrest for statutory rape. In the extended cut, Jared is arrested for FCC violations. The film ends with T.S. marrying Brandi at a Jaws attraction, Tricia's book becoming a bestseller, Brodie becoming a host on The Tonight Show, and Jay and Silent Bob adopting an orangutan named Susanne.
