Full plot (contains spoilers)
The famous Venetian is forced to leave his city to escape a marriage. During the stops on his journey to the East, he does not fail to break several women’s hearts, and when he arrives in China, he comes across a young woman who has fallen victim to some bandits. Marco Polo frees her and, when brought before the Great Khan, discovers that the girl, who has meanwhile fallen in love with him, is the ruler’s niece. Meanwhile, Marco helps the Great Khan rid himself of a treacherous minister and reconcile with a nephew who had abandoned him. While spending time at court, he discovers that spaghetti are also made in China and grows curious about gunpowder, which the Chinese use to celebrate with fireworks, but which in the West will be destined for warfare.
