Marie Brand und die Liebe zu viert (2020)

Silvio Meinert’s body is found floating in the water. Detective Marie Brand and her colleague Simmel investigate the people in his life. At first, it stands out that he lived in a polyamorous household, where there were very likely tensions. At least, that is what Simmel assumes, since he cannot imagine that jealousy would not arise in such an arrangement. The doctor Laura, the businessman Andi, and Silvio had been in an open relationship as a threesome for several years. Silvio and Andi also worked at the same catering company, which was currently in financial trouble. Silvio wanted to leave and make a fresh start as a TV chef. According to Brand’s research, Silvio Meinert depended on heart medication. When she discovers that he had also taken a laxative on the day he died, she suspects an interaction that caused him to lose consciousness and thus drown. The group’s complicated and sensitive web of relationships was clearly on the verge of breaking apart when Silvio brought home a new woman, Malve, and her fifteen-year-old daughter, Fritzi. These tensions may have driven either Laura or Malve, both of whom had medical knowledge, to commit the crime. The constant interrogations take their toll on Laura’s son Greg and on Fritzi as well. They both want to leave and pack their things. Brand immediately puts out an alert for Greg’s car, but instead of giving up, Greg stages a hostage-taking at Fritzi’s request. She did not want to face her guilty conscience. She had given Silvio the laxative to stop him from going on a trip with her mother. She had no idea it might interact with his heart medication.
