The story
Lucy Mason, a former actress turned successful matchmaker at Adore in New York City, navigates a cynical professional landscape while struggling with her own romantic prospects. Her life becomes complicated when she meets a wealthy financier, Harry Castillo, who takes a genuine interest in her. Simultaneously, she remains in contact with her ex-boyfriend, John Pitts, a struggling actor. As Lucy navigates the complexities of her career and the conflicting demands of these two very different men, she must confront her own values regarding love and economic security within the city's competitive dating scene.

Lucy Mason works as a matchmaker in New York City. At a wedding, she meets a wealthy financier, Harry Castillo, who begins courting her. She also reconnects with her ex-boyfriend, John Pitts, a struggling actor. While dating Harry, Lucy discovers he underwent surgery to increase his height and realizes their relationship is based on 'checking boxes' rather than love, leading to a breakup. Meanwhile, a legal issue involving a client, Sophie, causes Lucy to confront her professional boundaries. After a period of uncertainty, Lucy and John reconnect and travel together. Following a crisis involving Sophie and a stalker, Lucy and John reconcile. Ultimately, Lucy accepts a promotion at Adore and accepts a marriage proposal from John, as evidenced by the final scenes showing them getting their marriage licenses.
