A retired assassin is pulled back into the underworld of contract killing when a former associate offers him a job that leads to a personal confrontation with his past.

The story

After faking his own death, assassin Arthur Bishop lives a quiet life in Rio de Janeiro until he is approached by a courier, Renee Tran. She reveals her employer wants Bishop to perform three high-profile assassinations, staged as accidents. Bishop flees to Thailand, seeking refuge with a friend, Mei. There, he discovers that the courier is working for Riah Crain, a woman from his past. Bishop eventually rescues a woman named Gina Thornton, who is being held by Crain as leverage to ensure Bishop completes the hits. Bishop must navigate a web of danger to protect Gina while facing the consequences of his history with Crain.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Arthur Bishop, an assassin who faked his death, is living in Rio de Janeiro as 'Santos.' He is contacted by Renee Tran, who tasks him with killing three targets and staging their deaths as accidents for Riah Crain. Bishop flees to Thailand and meets his friend Mei. They rescue Gina Thornton, who is being held by Crain. Bishop learns that Crain was a childhood associate who feels abandoned by him. Crain uses Gina as leverage to force Bishop into the hits. Bishop completes the first hit on a warlord named Krill in a Malaysian prison by poisoning him with snake venom. The second target is billionaire Adrian Cook in Sydney; Bishop causes Cook to fall from a penthouse pool. The final target is arms dealer Max Adams in Bulgaria. Bishop discovers Crain is using him to eliminate competition. Instead of killing Adams, Bishop teams up with him to take down Crain. After faking Adams' death, Bishop confronts Crain on his boat. Bishop rescues Gina in an emergency pod and overpowers Crain, securing him to the boat before it explodes, seemingly killing both. Gina returns to Cambodia to her children's shelter, where Bishop arrives. Adams survives and destroys evidence of Bishop's survival as a token of gratitude.
