A supervillain must find a new way to define himself after his long-time nemesis retires from hero work.
The story
Megamind is a highly intelligent extraterrestrial supervillain who has spent years in a rivalry with his nemesis, the superhero Metro Man. After successfully defeating Metro Man, Megamind finds himself purposeless and lonely. To fill the void, he creates a new hero to fight, but his plans are complicated when his creation becomes a dangerous threat to the city. Megamind must then navigate his complicated relationship with a news reporter and find a way to save the city from the very chaos he helped unleash.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Megamind and Metro Man are extraterrestrials of different species who were sent to Earth as infants. While Metro Man was raised in luxury, Megamind was raised in a prison, leading to a lifelong rivalry. After Megamind defeats Metro Man and takes over the city, he becomes depressed by the lack of an opponent. He creates a new hero, Hal Stewart (Tighten), but Hal becomes a villain instead. Megamind eventually discovers that Metro Man is alive and has simply retired to become a musician. When the villainous Tighten begins a crime spree and kidnaps a reporter, Megamind must team up with the reporter and his fish-like sidekick, Minion, to stop him. Megamind eventually defeats Tighten, saves the reporter, and is hailed as the city's new hero.
