The story

The film follows 14-year-old friends Megan Stewart and Amy Herman. Megan, a popular student with a troubled home life, meets a man named Josh online. After a series of unsettling interactions with Josh and his associates, Megan goes missing. Amy begins investigating, eventually communicating with Josh online. The narrative reveals a dark history for Megan, including past abuse. The investigation leads to a grim discovery: Megan is found being tortured and held in a pillory. Amy is eventually captured by Josh, who subjects her to violence. The film concludes with Amy being forced into a barrel containing Megan's decaying corpse, which is then buried in a forest. The final scenes show the girls' pre-disappearance plans on Amy's bed.
