Mein süßes Geheimnis (2006)

The baker Katharina Achternhagen and the pastry chef Alberto Puccini have been neighbors for nearly 20 years. Since their ideas about baked goods could hardly be more different, all they have for each other is mockery. While Puccini offers true sugar bombs, Achternhagen is interested exclusively in whole-grain products. Both run successful businesses with loyal customers who have been coming to them for years. The quality of their baked goods speaks for itself, too. Year after year, Puccini wins awards from the bakers’ guild, and Achternhagen’s Kraftmeier bread has also won several awards. But this year, Achternhagen also wins the cake competition with her diet cake. This is mainly because Günter Zichorius, the new head of the bakers’ guild, has secretly fallen in love with Achterhagen. Puccini’s world falls apart. He wants revenge. He decides to enter the whole-grain bread competition himself this year. But his attempts to bake the right bread fail miserably. So he hatches a plan with his daughter Donatella. He sends his grandson Leo to infiltrate the Achternhagen bakery as an apprentice and steal the secret recipe for Kraftmeier bread. He also spies on Achternhagen, though he has to realize that the two of them are growing closer.
