When Heidi’s estranged twin claims a share of their inherited inn, the threat of a payout puts the family business at risk.

The story

Adelheid “Heidi” Janssen is preparing to say goodbye as her daughter Antonia moves in with her friend Andrina. Then Heidi’s estranged twin Claudia arrives and asserts a claim to the inn they inherited from their mother. Recently unemployed, and with her husband having divorced her, Claudia says she now needs it. Heidi and Antonia are shocked: they have made the once run-down inn what it is today, and a payout could ruin them. Heidi tries to soften Claudia while also hoping to tell Antonia something about her past, but Antonia is always busy.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Adelheid Janssen has to say goodbye—her daughter Antonia is moving in with her friend Andrina, who has split up with her boyfriend Mirko and now finds the apartment too large for her. But it doesn’t take long for a distraction to appear. All of a sudden, Heidi’s twin sister turns up at the door and rents a room at the guesthouse. Heidi is mildly annoyed; she had been out of touch with Claudia for years, and for good reason. Claudia immediately asserts her claim to the inn, since they had both inherited it from their mother. At the time, she had wanted nothing to do with it, but now she needs it because she has recently become unemployed and her husband has divorced her. Both Adelheid and Antonia are shocked, since they turned the run-down inn into what it is today. If Claudia were to demand a payout now, they would be ruined. Heidi tries to soften her sister, but doesn’t have much success. She would also like to confess something from her past to her daughter, but that doesn’t work either, because Antonia is always busy. In the meantime, Antonia distracts herself with work, and because there is so much to do at the restaurant, that works for now. The chef, Sebastian, is determined not to make any mistakes today because a restaurant critic is expected, but no one knows what he looks like or exactly when he will arrive. When the person they take to be the critic arrives, a lot goes wrong, and the chef is devastated. Antonia tries to comfort him, though she could really use some comfort herself, because her living arrangement isn’t going as planned and she already regrets moving in. Things grow increasingly tense between Adelheid and Claudia, and both threaten to take legal action against the other. But at last, the long-promised conversation with Antonia finally takes place: Heidi had stolen her sister’s boyfriend. Toni’s father had mistaken the two of them back then, and Heidi had let Kurt believe she was Claudia, eventually falling in love with him. Shortly after this conversation, Heidi wants to speak to her sister once more, but they only argue, and Claudia ends up falling down the stairs and has to go to the hospital. When she is discharged, she seems changed: less spiteful and more conciliatory. To everyone’s surprise, she even reaches an agreement with her sister. The reason becomes clear to Adelheid when Claudia suddenly collapses and dies. It gives everyone cause to reflect once again on the past and what they have experienced together. In the end, Antonia moves out of Andrina’s place because Andrina has reconciled with her boyfriend, and Heidi is delighted to welcome her daughter back. The restaurant also receives a good review from the critic, since they had suspected the wrong person, and everything went perfectly the next day.
