Full plot (contains spoilers)

Nothing has been the same at the Kupferkanne country inn since Rufus left Toni so he could be there for his daughter, Mia. Toni’s mother, meanwhile, has plenty to keep her busy at her guesthouse, while her daughter is so dejected that she can’t bring herself to do anything. She hasn’t left her room for days, and to help with all the work, her mother has now hired a gardener. Secretly, she hopes Toni will take a liking to him, but Ronald has eyes only for his boss. Heidi is initially flattered, but finds it hard to let herself embark on a romance. In the end, love wins out over all the gossip and her daughter’s misgivings. Everyone can see Heidi positively blossoming, and she allows herself to be happy. Once Toni manages to pull herself together again, however, it is clear that her cooking alone cannot keep the Kupferkanne going. Finding a new chef proves difficult, as all the applicants have ideas of their own. The first candidate turns out to be a fraud. Candidate number two shows up without application papers, wants to cook only vegetarian food, and immediately suggests renting out the Kupferkanne as a simple country inn and completely converting the barn in the garden into a specialty restaurant. Candidate number three has appalling manners; number four arrives in a smart suit and turns straight around when he sees the kitchen; number five seems to cook well, but the food tastes awful; candidate number six doesn’t care much about hygiene; and candidate number eight insists on working completely independently, not under a boss. Toni is at a loss. But candidate number two won’t give up, and eventually wins her over with his vegetarian cooking, so Toni decides to give him a try and start converting the barn. Toni’s ex-boyfriend HaJü still hopes he can win her heart back. Fortunately, his work as the handyman around the house means he is often near her, and he tries everything to prove to Toni that she can’t do without him. Because Toni is trying to maintain a normal, friendly relationship with HaJü, he often gets the wrong idea. Even so, he is repeatedly there to help Toni in a crisis and is someone she can confide her worries in.
