A hitman with early-onset dementia must go on the run after refusing to kill a young girl.
The story
Alex Lewis is a contract killer living in Mexico who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's. He is assigned to kill a man in El Paso, Texas, a place where he grew up and where his brother lives in a nursing home. While the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force conducts an undercover operation in the same city to arrest a sex trafficker, Alex completes his hit and steals a flash drive. However, when he discovers his next target is a young girl, he refuses to kill her, leading him to take a stand against his employer's demands.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Alex Lewis, a hitman with early-onset Alzheimer's, kills a builder in El Paso and steals a flash drive. He refuses to kill his next target, a girl named Beatriz, but she is murdered by another hitman, Mauricio. Alex realizes he is in danger and kills Mauricio, burning the bodies. He later discovers footage on the flash drive showing Davana Sealman's son sexually assaulting Beatriz. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Vincent Serra and local detective Hugo Marquez link the murders to a processing facility owned by Randy, Davana's son. Alex eventually kills Randy at a yacht party and is cornered by the police. His Alzheimer's symptoms worsen as he infiltrates Davana's penthouse, but he is captured by a corrupt detective. In the hospital, Alex tells Vincent he has evidence against Davana but cannot remember where he hid the recording. Davana attempts to have Alex killed, but he takes her doctor hostage. During a police intervention, Alex escapes into Vincent's car, leaves a cryptic message, and is shot dead. Vincent later finds the recording, but the district attorney deems it insufficient for prosecution. Finally, Marquez kills Davana.
