The story
Gendarmerie Lieutenant Sandra Bauer and her partner, Major Laurent Bourbon, investigate the killing of Marie, a researcher at an advanced pharmaceutical laboratory, in an old potash mine in Mulhouse. Their suspicions turn toward Émilie Kern, Marie’s partner—who is also the lawyer whose actions cost Sandra custody of her son during her divorce. The case becomes more personal when Sandra must confront her brother Frédéric, a lawyer and business partner of Émilie. As the investigation appears to echo the mysterious legend of Saint Nicholas, the siblings are pushed into working together while confronting the earlier disappearance of their nephew Bastien.
