After a woman is found impaled on a sculpture at its unveiling, two investigators probe whether the case echoes an old local murder or connects to a suspected trafficking investigation.
The story
During the unveiling of a sculpture in Hossegor, Juliette Laborde is found impaled on the artwork. The discovery draws together Judicial Customs officer Walter Beaumont and Gendarmerie Captain Isabelle Hirigoyen, who work to solve the case. Two possible leads frame their investigation: an old legend about a shepherdess murdered in the same way in Biscarrosse in 1450, and an inquiry Beaumont had led into suspected trafficking, for which Laborde was convicted. The article presents these as questions for the investigators, without revealing how the case is resolved.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Juliette Laborde is found impaled on a sculpture during its unveiling in Hossegor, in the presence of its creator, Antoine Duprat. Judicial Customs officer Walter Beaumont and Gendarmerie Captain Isabelle Hirigoyen will work together to solve the case. Is there a connection to the legend that in 1450 a shepherdess was murdered in the same way in Biscarrosse, or is this murder linked to an investigation led by Walter Beaumont into suspected trafficking, for which Juliette Laborde was convicted?
