A regional gendarme and his sister investigate a string of inexplicable deaths in the Herbier family.
The story
At the cable-car arrival station linking Avoriaz and Morzine, Barbara Herbier is pushed over a railing by an attacker no one appears to have seen. In the days that follow, other members of the Herbier family die in similarly inexplicable circumstances, seemingly overcome by madness. The investigation falls to Pierre Garibaldi, an officer with the regional gendarmerie. He must accept help from Claire Garibaldi, a judicial police investigator from Lyon—and his own sister. Together, they face a series of baffling deaths whose circumstances raise questions about what is happening to the family.
