Full plot (contains spoilers)

Micha returns to his home village of Schappleben in Saxony-Anhalt. A few years ago, he made a lot of money with the first smartphone game, and now he wants to turn his parents’ old hotel into a large wellness resort. He has already promised physiotherapist Tina lucrative earning opportunities. But not everyone in the village is keen on Micha’s plans. Then, suddenly, the well runs dry, leaving the small village community high and dry, and this problem has to be dealt with first. Micha’s girlfriend Jenny flees to Berlin because of the situation, while Mayor Moni has no solution to offer beyond words of encouragement. Micha tries to persuade the others to invest in a new well, but in the end only Tina and her brother Jonas contribute. Their joy at the water gushing forth is short-lived: farmer Hermann and conspiracy theorist Bernd have also built a well, so the two sides end up pumping the water away from each other. With a further investment, Micha eventually gains the upper hand over the water supply. But even that cannot lure Jenny back to the countryside; she would rather have Micha back in Berlin. The construction of the well means that there has been no progress on the wellness resort for six months. Jenny heads back to Berlin. A dry spell in the new year makes the village’s situation worse. Micha sits in front of the television, depressed. Tina accuses him of doing nothing and making empty promises, demands her investment back, and tells him to disappear. Hermann, whom Bernd has just managed to stop from committing suicide, punches Micha in the face in the street. The village community goes to Micha’s house to tend to his injury. There, Moni’s assistant tells the others that they themselves are responsible for their predicament because of their incessant talking and arguing, and that they never learn from it. Micha offers the others a beer. They talk things out, apologize to one another, and decide to shape their future together from now on.
