The story
Tobias, a young priest tired of serving in the city centre, takes a position at a suburban church with ambitious plans to make it a community hub. Knowing no one locally, he goes door to door to meet parishioners. There he encounters Carola, an outgoing and impulsive woman who uses a wheelchair and lives on social assistance with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend. Their backgrounds and daily lives are sharply different, yet they fall in love. Tobias’s parents and friends doubt the relationship can last, while Tobias struggles to stand up for the relationship and his feelings.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Tobias is a young priest who rents a room from his former girlfriend. Tired of his ministry in the city centre, he starts working at a church in the suburbs. He doesn’t know anyone in the area, but has high ambitions of turning the church into a community hub. To get in touch with his parishioners, he starts “going door to door.” That’s when he meets the outgoing and impulsive Carola, who uses a wheelchair, lives on social assistance, and stays with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend in a home where there is a lot of drinking and smoking. Her world is radically different from his, but they fall in love. Tobias’s parents and friends don’t believe the relationship has a future, and he finds it hard to stand up for his love.
