A group of teenagers must travel to a distant planet to retrieve an ancient power to save their mentor and restore their lost abilities.

The story

A group of teenagers from Angel Grove, California secretly serve as the Power Rangers, a team of super-powered humans who use their abilities to defend the Earth from otherworldly threats. After participating in a charity skydive for the local observatory, the Rangers are informed by their leader, Zordon, that the hyperlock chamber imprisoning Ivan Ooze, a morphological being who once ruled the Earth, has been uncovered at a local construction site. He sends the Rangers to intercept the chamber before it is opened; however, Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, Goldar and Mordant arrive at the construction site before them and release Ivan.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After Ivan Ooze is released, he lays siege to the Command Center, incapacitating Zordon and destroying the Rangers' powers. Zordon's assistant Alpha 5 sends the Rangers to the planet Phaedos to seek the Great Power to revive Zordon. There, they are rescued by Dulcea, who helps them awaken their animal spirits in an ancient temple. They retrieve the Great Power, restoring their suits and powers. Back on Earth, Ivan hypnotizes parents into serving him and excavates Ecto-Morphicons. The Rangers return to Earth, using new animal Ninja Zords to fight the machines. They combine their Zords to form the Ninja Megazord and later the Ninja Mega Falconzord to battle Ivan. They lure Ivan into space, where he is destroyed by Ryan's Comet. The Rangers return to the Command Center and use the Great Power to resurrect Zordon. A celebration is held at Angel Grove's Harbor.
