Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 2011, 22-year-old music critic Grace Pine moves to Montreal to write a book about Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. She settles in the Mile End neighborhood and meets Archie, the sensitive guitarist for the indie band Bone Patrol, and Chevy, their self-absorbed lead singer. Grace accepts a role as the band's publicist while struggling with a lack of funds and a past affair with her former editor. Her relationships with the band members become complicated: Archie reveals he is celibate due to oral herpes, and Chevy treats her poorly, eventually leading to a professional and personal rift. After a falling out with her publisher and her roommate, Grace returns to Toronto but eventually returns to Montreal for the band's EP launch. She reconciles with her roommate and rejects Chevy's advances. The film concludes with Grace finding her voice as a female music critic in a male-dominated field and sharing a moment with Archie.
