The story
Cairo Sweet, an 18-year-old girl, lives alone in her wealthy family's mansion in Tennessee while completing her senior year of high school. She takes a creative writing class from teacher Jonathan Miller and impresses him with her extensive knowledge of literature. When Cairo struggles to find a topic for her college admission essay, her best friend suggests she explore the excitement of a teacher-student affair. After establishing an intellectual connection with Miller, the two begin spending time together outside of class. The situation becomes complicated when Miller accidentally takes Cairo's phone, leading to a personal meeting at her home where the boundaries between student and teacher begin to blur.

Cairo Sweet, an 18-year-old student in Tennessee, develops an intellectual bond with her teacher, Jonathan Miller. Encouraged by her friend Winnie, Cairo pursues a romantic connection with him. After a physical encounter at her home, Cairo writes an erotic story about their relationship. When Miller demands she rewrite it to remove the explicit content, Cairo retaliates by sending the story to the school's vice principal to expose their affair. Miller is subsequently suspended, causing a rift in his friendship with his best friend, Boris Fillmore. While Winnie tries to convince Cairo to drop the charges, Cairo refuses, viewing Miller's downfall as her 'greatest achievement.' She eventually uses blackmail to keep Winnie silent regarding her own actions with Fillmore. The film concludes with Cairo writing her experiences into her college essay, while she and Miller share a final, ambiguous look before a hearing.
