A group of small, yellow creatures embark on a quest to find a new master to serve after their previous leaders were accidentally destroyed.

The story

Minions are small, yellow pill-shaped creatures who have existed since the beginning of time, serving various masters throughout history. After becoming unmotivated and isolated following the loss of their previous leaders, three Minions—Kevin, Stuart, and Bob—embark on a quest to find a new boss for their tribe. Their journey leads them to 1968 New York City, where they encounter a convention for villains. After being recruited by the ambitious Scarlet Overkill, the trio travels to London to assist her in a high-stakes heist to steal the Imperial State Crown from Queen Elizabeth II.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Minions are small, yellow creatures who have existed since the beginning of time, but they are clumsy and have accidentally killed every boss they ever worked for. After being isolated in a cave for years, Kevin, Stuart, and Bob set out to find a new master. In 1968, they find themselves in New York City and are eventually recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a supervillain who takes them to London to help her steal the Imperial State Crown. During the heist at the Tower of London, Bob accidentally becomes King, and the trio is later imprisoned. They eventually escape and inadvertently cause a scene at the Queen's coronation. Following a chaotic chase through the streets of London, Kevin manages to outsmart the villains and reunite with his friends. In the climax, Kevin survives a massive explosion and the Minions eventually discover a young boy named Gru, whom they decide is the boss they have been searching for.
