The story

The family celebration is overshadowed by Jacques’s distress: his company is being driven into bankruptcy by Bartheau, a ruthless businessman, and the family home is at risk of seizure. Marc and Robert decide to help Jacques retaliate. They devise an elaborate con aimed at Bartheau, hoping to get him to buy a vineyard that is not actually for sale. Their plan must account for their target’s sharpness, however, as Bartheau is not easily fooled.
